- The following message appears: cartridge not recognised.
- For alternative Epson cartridges, this report means that the cartridge is (nearly) empty and must be replaced. If a new cartridge is concerned, and if it is impossible that the cartridge is empty, remove the cartridge from the printer and clean it carefully using a slightly damp, lint-free cloth or a tissue.
- Immediately after placement, the following message appears: cartridge is empty.
- For alternative Epson cartridges, precise placement of the cartridges in the printer is required. It is impossible that the cartridges have not been placed possible. Remove the cartridge from the printer by pressing the top of the cartridge firmly. Clean the chip carefully using a slightly damp, lint-free cloth or tissue. If you are unable to remove the cartridge from the printer, firmly press the cartridge back into position to connect with the printer's contact points. Press OK or reset the printer.
- Message: 'Cartridge is not manufactured by Epson'
- This is an informative message. Epson only indicates that this cartridge is not an original cartridge. This does not affect quality. Click 'YES' or confirm the message and you will be able to continue printing without problems.
- There is still a layer of ink in my 'empty' cartridge.
- It is possible that there still is a layer of ink in your 'empty' cartridge even though your printer indicates that your cartridge needs to be replaced. This is normal. Your cartridge must be replaced.
- My cartridge looks different from the original cartridge.
- Due to patents of the printer manufacturer, it is possible a cartridge differs slightly from the original. However, this does not influence the print quality. For alternative Epson cartridges, precise placement of the cartridges in the printer is required. Ensure the Epson cartridge has been placed correctly and is able to make contact with the printer. Only then will the printer accept the cartridge and will you be able to print without problems.
- My cartridge does not fit the printer like the original cartridge.

- There are no more prints after replacing the cartridge.

If there is a specific error report, you can solve the error based on the solutions provided in our technical database.
Please check first if the seal has been removed from the cartridge. If the seal has been removed and there is no error report, you can execute a cleaning programme. You can find this programme under the heading 'printer contents' (header can differ depending on the printer). See the printer manual.
- My print has a bad quality: white stripes/bad colour.
- Ensure the cartridge is not empty, that you printed to the maximum. If this is not the case, you can clean the cartridge once or multiple times using the printer's cleaning programme. You can find this programme under the heading 'printer maintenance' (header can differ depending on the printer). The cleaning programme can be executed multiple times.
- My cartridge is leaking ink.
- If the leak occurred during the placement of the cartridge, you can no longer use the cartridge. Clean the cartridge tray using a lint-free cloth and place a new cartridge. Did the leak occur during printing? Stop printing immediately. Remove the leaking cartridge, clean the tray with a lint-free cloth, dry the printer rollers and run 3 to 4 white sheets through the printer to absorb as much ink as possible.
- I cannot print, but the cartridge still has sufficient ink.
- Make sure that the cartridge has been used recently so the ink has not dried. If this is the case, you will have to place a new cartridge. Is this not the case? Remove the cartridge from the printer and clean the copper-coloured part with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
- The print results differ from using an original cartridge.
- The black colour can differ slightly (less deep) from the original. This is a result of the ink, but does not influence the quality.

- I receive an error report after placing the cartridge.
- If this type of cartridge gives an error report, this can often be resolved by shifting the cartridge a few mm. You can possibly also clean the cartridge chip using a slightly damp, lint-free cloth or tissue. These cartridges are connected in series and, as such, sensitive.
- Why am I not being warned in the status monitor that the cartridges are almost empty?
- The manufacturer has developed the software in your printer in such a way that using alternative cartridges is hindered. Your status monitor will not work, but a message will appear when your cartridges are actually empty.
- There are lines/stripes on the paper after printing.
- Perform print head cleaning. Cleaning can be found in your printer's maintenance menu. Print a test page to see if all spraying channels are unblocked. If there still are lines/stripes on the printed page, please repeat the steps. If two black lines appear on the printed test page, perform up to two cleaning cycles. If three black lines appear, perform up to three cleaning cycles. In most cases, the blocked spraying channels are caused by heaped up air in the print head. If the lines/stripes are not cleared up by the cleaning cycle, let the printer rest for half an hour and perform an inspection of the spraying channels. If there is no improvement, let the cartridge rest for another two hours. The ink will flow through the cartridge during this period and absorb the heaped up air and/or force it out of the print head. If cartridges are removed from the Epson printer for an indefinite amount of time, the print head is subjected to drying and can be blocked. Only replace the used cartridges the moment you have replacement cartridges. Never remove the plug from the printer when the printer is active, for instance when feeding paper, during cleaning cycles and printing. If the printer is not in use, the print head is closed off via the closing mechanism to prevent drying out.

- How do I correctly install my cartridge?
- Remove the film from the cartridge. Switch off the printer. Place the cartridges and press down until you hear a click. Check to see that all cartridges are at the same height. If so, they have been installed correctly. Turn the printer back on. The ink will start to load, which could take a while. In the meantime, a light might start to blink. This will stop automatically. The Epson printer head is fragile. Do not use the printer if the cartridges have not been installed correctly or if the ink has not finished loading. This could damage the printer head.
